The 3rd Annual Foster Tasting Tour was a blast, and a success!
Our 43 participating businesses generated 1,100 Tasting Tour transactions! That’s an average of 25 Tasting Tour transactions and 15 first-time customers each. The Tasting Tour made cash registers ring, generating $10,000 in revenue, 165% more than last year. We received 110 completed passports (86% more than last year) and awarded $330 in gift cards from participating businesses to three lucky winners. Great job all!
We were humbled to receive an unprecedented level of support from businesses and the community. Special thanks to Bar Maven, Carts on Foster, Dore Law Firm, Foster Burger, Klein & Associates, Inc., Performance Works, Pieper Cafe, Red Castle Games, SE Works, Inc., Starday Tavern, The Trap Restaurant & Lounge, Thunderbird Bar and Transition Projects. In addition the Portland Bureau of Transportation came through to support our goal of generating summer revenue for businesses affected by streetscape construction and Venture Portland provided essential logistical and financial support.
With your generous support, we made some exciting first-time improvements to the Tour, like the opportunity for service and community organizations to participate through trivia. We redesigned the passport for ease of use, and increased our print run up from 300 to 2,000. We were thrilled to partner with Carts on Foster and the Portland Mercado in reaching out to carts and vendors, supporting small, start-up and minority-owned businesses and helping ensure Foster Area is a great place to grow all types of business. We also scaled up our marketing campaign to reach an unprecedented number of community members, including direct-mailing the passport to 973 residents within walking distance of the Tour. Our print ad reached up to 40,000 area readers, while our Instagram promotion made 28,000 impressions, and our Facebook and other marketing efforts reached additional thousands in nearby neighborhoods.
Most of all, thanks to all of our participant businesses and everyone who came out for a day of fun on Foster road! We hope to see you again soon.
