Gracias Foster Area for your support in our first 8 months! In line with our mission to bring diverse cultures together through entertainment, art and food, we hope you and your friends/families will join us for our next main events: Portland Posada & Holiday Bazar Gift Shop.
Portland Mercado invites all to a Latin American-style holiday celebration called “Portland Posada” on December 12. A Posada is a tradition that spans back centuries in Mexico and Latin America and has become more popular in the United States as a way to bring people together to enjoy traditional holiday foods such as ponche and tamales, live music and the act of giving.
This special day will also launch our pop-up holiday gift shop “Holiday Bazar” – a 9 day gift shop designed to encourage local purchasing and to support artists and makers. The shop is organized by People Places Things intercultural communications organization with a main location at Portland Mercado. The gift shop will remain open from Dec. 12 through Dec. 20, so you can plan to do some local shopping!
Want to give back? We will also be organizing a gift drive in partnership with Hispanicpros & Central City Concern. Bring a gift valued at $25 to the Mercado to benefit local families and be entered to win an iconic symbol of the Posada: a 7 armed piñata handmade by Fiesta Tradicional.
